GENERATORprojects is a Dundee based artist-run initiative founded in 1996 by friends Paul Liam Harrison, Andy Kennedy and Caroline McIntee. As a volunteer organisation, they facilitate a varied cultural programme of exhibitions and events. Their committee strives to highlight the importance of grassroots activity and its imperative role in sustaining and developing the careers of emerging artists.
GENERATORprojects work with local and national artists to bring new and exciting projects to the city while maintaining a welcoming environment for all those who wish to engage with and support the organisation. They provide a platform for creative practitioners, to develop experimental and contemporarily relevant work and give them the opportunity to exhibit, curate and gain experience in the running of an arts venue. They are a vital stepping stone for arts graduates providing them with paid work and opportunities for networking. The organisation and venue are facilitated by the Generator committee, a rolling collective of volunteers, who dedicate two years of their time to ensure the continuation of the programmed space and the broader aspects of the organisation.
The GENERATORprojects Annual Members’ Show is an exhibition created to highlight the important and varied work being completed by the membership of Dundee’s oldest artist-run initiative. The exhibition is not only a fantastic event for visitors old and new, but also an invaluable experience for the members themselves as it provides an opportunity to network, feel inspired, and to gain an insight into running and exhibiting in a collective space—an insight that is all too often out of reach for recent graduates and up-and-coming artists.
They are bringing their Annual Members’ Show to Wellgate Shopping Centre in Unit 4-6, level 2. The show will open to all on the 8th of May and run through to the 6th of June, open 12-5pm Thursday – Sunday.
