The Big Butterfly Count, an initiative from the Butterfly Conservation, is a UK-wide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment simply by counting the amount and type of butterflies we see.
Here’s how you can participate in the Big Butterfly Count:
- Get ready
Download the Big Butterfly Count ID chart or the Big Butterfly Count app on to your phone to identify and record the butterflies you spot. - Choose your place and observe
Choose your place to spot the butterflies and moths on the above dates. Watch for 15 minutes and then record your findings. - Record your findings
The Big Butterfly Count will be open from the 1st July ready for the main event on the 15th. From the interactive map on the website or the app, you can see how many people are participating in your area!
